General Information

Absences:
If your child will be absent, please call the school at (508) 829-4766 to let us know. The answering machine is on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can leave a message at any time.

Cancellations:
In the event of inclement weather, cancellation information will be announced on local radio stations. Tune to WBZ, WTAG, or WXLO.

Illness:
If your child is feeling sick or is experiencing a fever of 100° or more, has a rash, diarrhea, vomiting or a contagious disease, he/she may not attend school and must remain out of school for 24 hours after the last bout of fever, diarrhea, or vomiting without medication. When a contagious disease is diagnosed, a written statement from your child's doctor stating that the child is no longer contagious is required before your child can return to school. Medication and over the counter drugs can not be transported via a backpack/child. An adult must bring the medication or over the counter drug along with a physician's order to the school.

Medical Records:
Medical forms must be on file before your child attends the ECC. Your child's pediatrician or designee must complete this form. A new form does not have to be obtained each year.

Communication:
The backpack communication system lets you know what is happening at the ECC and lets us know what is happening at home. Please read the notices and information we send home in your child's backpack and we will read the information that you share from home. Periodic newsletters are prepared by the classroom teacher to keep you up to date. It is a good idea to post these at home.

Parent Responsibility:
Please report any changes in emergency telephone numbers, attendance pattern, employer or home telephone number. Notify the office in writing if your child will be picked up by someone that has not been previously authorized. That person will need to provide a driver's license for identification before we release your child from school. Notify the office if your child will be late to school.

Toys:
Our preschool program has a wonderful and varied selection of toys. Please do not allow your child to bring any of his/her special or valuable toys to school except on Show and Tell days. This makes Show and Tell a very special day for your child. Your child should feel comfortable about sharing any of the toys he/she brings to school for Show and Tell. Toy guns, swords and the like must be left at home.

Transportation:
Parents or guardians are responsible for securing their child in a car seat on the van. Children are not allowed to have toys, food, or drink on the van due to safety concerns. If a child brings a toy for Show and Tell, it must be transported in the child's backpack.

Parking:
Parking is a challenge at the ECC. Please be patient and very careful in the parking lot. A maximum of 5 mph is allowed. Please give the right of way to the vans. They pull around and then back up into the parking spaces.
